How important is it to be collared?

I read this online by someone:
"About how important is it to be Collared? I have been a Domme for 10+yrs and I have only had one slave that was collared. He was so happy to be collared he jumped around like a little puppy with a treat. So I ask you how important is it to be collared? What does being Collared really mean to you?

What are your thoughts? Do you want to be collared in a ceremony? Have you already?

Sometimes those that are to be collared have a formal collaring ceremony. In the past, I've hosted one at my home that was a small gathering with the Femdomme/malesub couple and just a couple other people. Also, I've known of a local couple that just had a private collaring ceremony between only the both of them where they set up the room pretty with candles, a circle made of a string of white lights on the floor and then exchanged their vows of commitment and love to each other. I believe followed by some whacks. I saw a photo of their set up room and it looked romantic.

Coincidentally I was recently invited to my female friend's "Formal Collaring and Acceptance Ceremony" to her master that's on Saturday. It'll be in front of 30 lifestyle friends. Basically announcing it formally to our local bdsm community. Unfortunately I do not think I'll be able to make it since I'll be in miami that day. But I know she's happy to know that she'll be announcing to everyone that she now belongs to someone respected in our local community.
