What's the difference between discipline and punishment?
Discipline - regular discipline keeps you in line so you don't get a big head. Or it could be just because I'm in the mood to put you over my knee.
Punishment - you are punished for your wrongdoings. you take it to try to make amends for your bad behavior. The intensity can be higher. And you can be punished through physical means or other ways such as assignments or withholding pain if you're a masochist. Some examples of wrongdoings could be that you didn't show up on time, weren't paying enough attention to your Mistress, forgot to wear your panties or you came without permission, etc.
Other/exception:
Sensual spanking - done in a way that incorporates pleasure, playfulness or sensuality. For example, in the bottom left photo above I could be slowly caressing your bottom over my knee and lightly spanking you. It can be done to heighten the eroticism or sensitivity, or to show the dynamic of the relationship by putting you in a submissive position/mode.
